Die Forscher resümieren, dass trotz der vergleichsweise hohen Verbreitung der Anwendungen zur gesundheitlichen Selbstvermessung "verlässliche Nachweise einer präventiven oder gesundheitsfördernden Wirkung" nicht existierten. Dabei sei zu bedenken, "dass die Apps neben fehlendem Nutzen grundsätzlich auch ein Schadenspotenzial aufweisen können".
